Wayanad is the green, quiet north of Kerala — cloud caught between mountains, coffee and pepper growing under old trees, and forests where elephants still cross the road at first light. You fly into Calicut, drive up the ghat road to a resort in Vythiri and stay put for three nights: one day for Pookode Lake, Soochipara falls and the Chembra viewpoints, one day for a dawn jeep safari at Tholpetty, and plenty of unscheduled hours on the veranda. Traditional welcome on arrival, private car with driver throughout, and a small surprise gift when you leave.
Our representative meets you at Calicut airport and drives you up the winding ghat road to a reputed resort in Vythiri, in the heart of the Wayanad forest. Traditional welcome on arrival and check-in. The rest of the day is at leisure — use the resort, walk the estate paths, or simply sit out and listen to the forest. Overnight in Wayanad.
After breakfast, a full day of local sightseeing: Pookode Lake, a natural freshwater lake surrounded by evergreen forest; the Soochipara (Sentinel Rock) waterfalls, where you can swim in the pool below; the trail and viewpoints at Chembra Peak, Wayanad's highest; and the Lakkidi viewpoint looking back down the hairpin bends. Back at the resort by evening. Overnight in Vythiri.
An early start for Tholpetty, one of the finest sanctuaries in South India for wildlife. A jeep safari takes you through teak and bamboo forest, with a good chance of wild elephants, gaur (Indian bison), spotted deer, langurs and abundant birdlife. Return to the Vythiri resort by evening for a slow dinner. Overnight in Vythiri.
A last breakfast among the trees, then our representative drives you back down to Calicut airport for your onward flight — with a small farewell gift from our team.
